Reporting to the Managing Director, the role is a mix of running the operational finance and commercial business coupled with general consulting to local government and private sector clients who wish to improve their commercial and strategic performance. • Responsible for the end to end financial performance of the company. Statutory accounting, tax compliance, payroll, WIP control, invoicing and purchase ledger. • Complete the commercial review of job quotes we tender for to ensure that commercial risk can be mitigated and our qualifiers and assumptions cover scope change. • Introduced automated reporting from our time-sheet system to track staff utilisation and help drive staff utilisation levels and behaviours that reduce job write offs.• Developing the 5-year growth strategy in conjunction with the Directors to support expansion into new territories and gain market share of record infrastructure spending. • Brought in a cloud based expenses process in Xero that allows paperless claims and pass through of travel and disbursements directly to client accounts.• Introduced an automated travel procedure that reduces cost, administration time and directly improved both our margin and the cost to client.

Optos Plc is part of Nikon Corporation and is a leading medical technology company that designs, develops, manufactures, and markets retinal imaging devices.Responsible for the operational delivery of the International Finance reporting unit of Optos Plc and its subsidiary companies in Germany, Holland and Japan. A commercially focused role with responsibility for a finance team of 4 staff.Reporting to the VP of Finance (International & Group) key duties include:- Statutory accounts preparation in accordance with IFRS.- Leading and controlling the monthly reporting process including review of balance sheet reconciliations, reforecasting, variance analysis and intercompany transactions.- Oversight of taxes (Corporation tax and VAT) for Optos PLC and GmbH. - Providing high quality analytics to support European sales, commercial activities and revenue generating opportunities. Responsible for the management of all financial, accounting, tax and consolidated statutory reporting requirements for Canvas Holidays UK Ltd, and 5 foreign subsidiaries, to the US parent company. Day to day management of the operational finance function, leading a team of 6 finance staff (appraisals/CPD etc).
