Somewhat overtaken by events in March 2020; the patient-side TB test was reconfigured as a SARS-CoV-2 molecular test in less than a week by our co-founder and CSO Dr Stuart Wilson. This assay is based on our proprietary RapiPREP RNA sample preparation technology in combination with our adaptation of the LAMP nucleic acid amplification method. Clinical trials commenced on Friday 20th March using samples from a Guys' and St Thomas' care home (hand delivered by medical staff to our labs. at the London Bioscience Innovation Centre), as always a few revisions were needed with real samples, the MicrosensDx assay was performing satisfactorily by Sunday 22nd and compared favourably with the Guy's in house PCR method, scientific paper on the new assay written March 28/29, submitted Tuesday 31st March.
