Supplier Development Engineer
Current- Subject Matter Expert for Receiving and Inspection departments.o Engaged with customers to understand the intent of their drawings and assisted to improve them for flowdown of the Technical Data Packages (TDP). This Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) made satisfactory criteria clearer to our suppliers and inspectors.o Oversaw the operations of the Benchmark Incoming Inspection and Receiving departments providing technical knowledge and executive authority over acceptability of parts.o Performed over 1500 dispositions on suspect parts and assemblies.o Distributed weekly metrics of quarantined parts to relevant buyers. o Developed, implemented, and sustained inspection plans for use by the company on a commodity level and individual part level.- Maintained relationship between the company and its suppliers. This included travel to offsite facilities to observe capabilities and processes for our purchased products through visits and audits. From this continuous improvement dialogue quality was enhanced for purchased parts and assemblies of cables, coatings, boards, machining, optics, & plastics.- Responsible for management of 200 active suppliers and 600 approved suppliers. Attention to each was determined reactively by production needs and HOT escalation processes. Then proactively by pareto analysis of incoming quality: defect frequency, severity through Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA) and Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs).- Generated new part information and maintained old part information within the site’s ERP system. Information includes but is not limited to inspection requirements, setting moisture sensitivity levels, and identifying which parts have expiration date falling under First-in-First-Out (FIFO) requirements. This amounted to 35,000 customer commodities and 60,000 supplier commodities with an average of 100 changes or new part additions per week.
Supplier Quality Engineer
- Reviewed suspect electro-mechanical parts and assemblies for disposition, observing and documenting the condition received against the ideal set forth in the Purchase Orders, Drawings, and Industry Standards developing familiarity with each.- Made executive judgements on the useability of suspect parts and assemblies for all programs in a high velocity and pressure environment for the IDS Andover site of 6000 employees.- Performed excess of 3,000 dispositions on suspect parts and assemblies.- Initiated and presided over negotiations between internal and external stakeholders to address needs for supply chain velocity, product quality, design intent, & ethical practices in my decisions.- Completed Lean 6sigma project addressing a backlog of assets awaiting disposition. Data collected during a 1quarter cycle put through pareto analysis identified a problem and my solution helped reduce the backlog for the ensuing quarters. - Developed, implemented, and sustained initiative to monitor and address quality control at a warehousing provider responsible for handling over 2-billion USD in assets which was then expanded to other warehouse vendors.
Project Engineer
- Drove scheduling for a 1-million-dollar contract to build a mobile chemical manufacturing apparatus dubbed R.O.D. (Reagents on Demand) for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Represented company in meetings with U.S. government regulatory bodies and coordinated activities with other contractors.- Designed and machined prototype components with tight tolerances using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software and onsite machine shop where I furthered my experience on the use of the milling machine, drill press, lathe. and laser cutter.- Coordinated with external vendors and generated purchase orders on equipment needed for the project including custom metal parts and commercial components.- Assisted in normal company operations of manufacturing and continuous improvement of surface tension based chemical separation equipment, and diaphragm based back pressure regulators.- My R&D for the project yielded secondary results in two pump prototypes which were seen to have commercial applications outside the contract and put into development as new product lines by the company. - Maintained formal engineering manuals documenting experimental steps taken in research and development. As well as detailing operating parameters and instructions for prototype equipment.
