CWF Help the Turtles Project – Conducted wetland surveys for Blanding’s turtles on private land in an effort to expand protected habitat. Completed nesting surveys collecting over 600 Blanding’s, Snapping and Map turtle eggs for incubation. Monitored and cared for turtle eggs and hatchlings, and assisted with the release of hatchlings. Conducted road surveys identifying ‘hotspots’ for turtle road mortality which will be used as sites for the application of road mitigation strategies. Performed data entry and analysis using Excel, mapped and conducted spatial analysis on turtle road mortality and nesting data with QGIS. CWF Help the Eels Project – Assisted with Electrofishing surveys for the American Eel and River Redhorse. Helped capture and identify species of Redhorse in the Ottawa River. CWF Help the Bats Project - Assisted with the construction and installation of Bat Houses around the Ottawa area. Helped identify, tag and monitor Big Brown Bats for eviction studies. Lead Pollinator Workshops at various Home Depots in the GTA educating parents and youth on pollinators and sustainable gardening practices.

Assisted professors and environmental professionals on the Biological Response to a Changing Environment (BRACE) research project. Worked alongside the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) setting up field sites, installing data collection instruments, boardwalks and solar panel arrays, as well as conducting field tests in remote fen ecosystems. Collected surface water and soil samples, as well as hydrological, vegetation and atmospheric data for the BRACE research project. Performed transact surveys to identify wetland flora. Collaborated successfully as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Zoe Lindo’s lab uses experiments in the field, greenhouse and laboratory (BIOTRON), and the integration of empirical results with current theoretical perspectives to help identify how to mitigate the impacts of environmental change and maintain ecosystem function in soil systems.Brian Branfireun’s lab (located in the BIOTRON institute for Experimental Climate Change Research at Western University) is used for the study of speciated trace metals in the environment such as mercury and arsenic.My employment at Western University in a laboratory setting and in field work have left me with comprehensive knowledge and experience in the environmental research and consultation sector. I performed data collection and water quality analysis by preparing and examining samples through ion chromatography, dissolved organic carbon analysis and spectroscopy. Entrusted with the safe disposal of hazardous materials.During my time assisting the lab tech and observing him work, I was given hands-on lab experience providing safe and productive work, as well as invaluable insight and knowledge into environmental consultation work.
