I am a commercial real estate attorney in New York City with significant experience with large Manhattan law firms and national title companies.I obtained degrees from Vanderbilt University and Southern Methodist University School of Law and am a member of both the Texas and New York state bars. Directly out of law school I was employed with the Trammell Crow Company (then the world's largest commercial developer) first in New Orleans LA and then in Austin TX. I handled all business and legal aspects of marketing commercial properties including client development as well as the drafting and negotiation of large commercial leases with Fortune 500 companies.I moved to NYC in the 1990's and was hired as a independent contract attorney by some of the most prominent law firms in Manhattan such as Shearman & Sterling, Pryor Cashman, Latham & Watkins and Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft, tackling a wide range of tasks for large, multi-state commercial real estate transactions.From 2004 through 2017 I worked with the National Business Unit of the Chicago Title Insurance Company, NYC office, handling underwriting and policy drafting responsibilities and as a Title Closer helping to close multi-billion dollar commercial real estate transactions such as the sale of 1,100 Motel 6 properties, 700 Red Lobster restaurants and the sale of all GECC real estate holdings to the Blackstone Group. From 2017 to 2020 I was a Senior Associate at Kelley Drye & Warren LLP, the second oldest firm in Manhattan. In 2021 I moved to my current position as Senior Underwriting Counsel with the National Commercial Services division of First American Title Insurance Company. In prior years I also worked professionally in NYC as an actor, including a recurring role on the Guiding Light and on Law and Order episodes, commercials, and professional stage productions in NYC and other cities. I am an Eagle Scout and am active with environmental organizations.
