About Christopher Taylor, Mph

Looking for a friendly and motivated addition to your team, someone who is computer-savvy, data-literate, and creative? Let's talk.I am an experienced public health agent with a passion for health communication that considers and represents the culture. I have been engaged in community-based interventions for global and domestic public health issues for over 8 years. During my service as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Senegal, West Africa, I developed a deeper interest in malaria prevention that led me to become more specialized in the subject, considering every factor in the chain of transmission that could be minimized in order to drive the elimination of the disease. This led me to stay for a third year to coordinate the malaria-based training and activities of the entire Peace Corps Senegal program. While living in a rural Senegalese community, I witnessed the social determinants that perpetuate poor health outcomes for people. Upon returning to the rural American community where I grew up, I recognized that these issues are not unique to low- and middle-income countries, but can be found all across the United States. My passion for public health led me to Tulane School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine, where I earned my Master of Public Health in Epidemiology in May 2024. In addition to honing my skills in study design and data analysis, I coordinated the Global Scholars Program, a student honors organization who prepared graduate students for international work through cultural awareness and skills development. I also applied my artistic skills to the design and publication of two issues of The Internationalist, a magazine featuring the writing, poetry, art, and photography of the students involved in the Global Scholars Program. As a Program Manager in the Epidemiology department, I gained experience in project management, grant writing, data analysis, SAS, and human subjects protections in research, where I learned how to manage the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for several studies. I am a team-oriented individual and most of my proudest work has been achieved in committee and collaboration. Whether serving as a crew member, a manager, a specialist, or a leader, I strive to bring out the best in those I work with. I would love to talk about what I could bring to your team.
