An 8 month rotation seconded to Salym Petroleum Development to gain experience as a wellsite geologist.Activities include: Submission of daily reports, being responsible for geological operations on the well including cutting and core descriptions and logging operations and being a HSE leader. In my spare time I am teaching myself Python.

At REP I completed the contingency well module and presentation. These are wells which were planned to be drilled but have not, typically due to the financial state of the oil industry. This involved researching the the cutback of frontier and higher risk exploration during the economic downturn. On completion of this project I started work on continuing the research for the new appraisal module, which is planned to be REP’s latest addition to their portfolio. This covers assets from many different basins worldwide and of a range of exploration statuses.Appraisal phase of exploration is often an under-reported stage. I had to research each of the assets (fields) establish the number of appraisal wells and penetrations and create a brief summary of each asset.
