My name is Christopher Hiroshi Tiu. I am the son of immigrants, and born in the US in 2001. I am 19 years old. My parents taught me by example the importance of hard work, so I pushed myself into the workforce for the experience. I am an undergraduate at UNT, my major is biology. My goal is to be a dentist. Of course, this is a tall order- I am also open to helping people in some other capacity. But this is the long road I am willing to travel.My greatest achievement so far is playing Tenor saxophone in the 2018 Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. I had to train for many summer months outside, but it was all worth it. Along with my musical skills, I am no stranger to heavy manual labor. When I worked for UPS my shift entailed keeping a belt clear of heavy, irregular packages. This proves that I can focus for hours. Even in the Texas summer's heat I stayed healthy and hydrated throughout the day. Occasionally, a manager/supervisor would come and give more orders. Though I don't greatly appreciate getting ordered around, I have never complained and did what I was told in a timely manner. I appreciated that job experience, it taught me to be strong in the face of hardship.I currently work as a dental assistant, and it is also conveniently close to what I aim to be. I know how to keep a room sanitized and clean, and I sterilize/maintain many of the tools. I keep ready instrument counts at operable levels throughout the day. I take X-rays on patients as needed using a flexible machine. I help the hygienist too, by entering statistics of patients into a computer.
