After leaving school I worked as a motorcycle mechanic. Then moved onto GRP technician for a plastics firm. Unhappy I started to work part time as a gym instructor along side my full time job. This I believe was the beginning of my life. Turns out you can make choices based on what you want and if you’re committed to it, work hard and believe in yourself, you can achieve what you want. I took a year out to travel around the world and I returned to the UK to work back in the fitness industry. For 10 years I worked as gym instructor, class instructor, personal trainer, sports conditioner and gym manager. In that time I’d ran a handfull of 10k races, a few marathons and competed in 3 natural bodybuilding competitions. Always looking for a new challenge, in 2009 I joined Nottinghamshire fire & rescue as a firefighter. During my time in training I was introduced firefighter fitness competitions and I competed in a handful across Europe. With my previous back ground I then started training firefighters on my watch to maintain and improve their fitness and then began training them to compete in firefighter competitions. After a few years competing in Europe myself and 4 other firefighters created the British Firefighter Challenge. The UK’s First and only firefighters fitness competition. Becoming a CIC in 2019, I’m now a director and we’ve grown every year since increasing our competitor numbers and reach. In 2020 I became a crew manager in the fire service and I began work on an app called the myfitfinder. In 2021 after training for nearly 5 years I swam the English channel. To date I’m still a crew manager, director of the BFC and have now released the myfitfinder app.
