Launched the Supercharger program, built the infrastructure and equipment design team for the first Gigafactory, and led the 80-person battery design team for the launch of the Model 3. Reported directly to Tesla CTO at the time, JB Straubel for the final 4 years. Entered as an IC in mechanical engineering and received several promotions during my time there.2017: Tesla’s EV Battery Design--Led 80-person Battery Design team during the launch of the Model 3--Closed out the battery design-phase of work and began the high-volume production--Accelerated production volume and team productivity to meet aggressive corporate timelines 2015-2016: Tesla’s first Gigafactory Project--Managed infrastructure and equipment design for the first Gigafactory project including equipment for supporting battery cell manufacturing--Established Tesla’s first team dedicated to infrastructure engineering--Team grew to 30 under my leadership and has continued to enable Tesla’s major infrastructure initiatives2010-2014: Tesla Supercharger Program--Launched the Tesla Electric Vehicle Supercharger Program, that currently has >16,000 stations worldwide--Built program from a concept on paper only to the first 100 stations --Led the equipment design--Managed the operations, installation, and interface with the grid and host sites for the first 25 stations--Kicked off the ops team and continued to lead the 10-person engineering team
