I am a public affairs and communications professional with 19 years of experience in lobbying, media and membership relations. Before joining Bloodwise, I undertook maternity cover at Macmillan Cancer Support. I have also provided freelance public affairs consultancy and was a senior Director, reporting to the Chief Executive of the Association of Colleges (AoC), playing a key role shaping the strategic direction of the organisation, whilst managing a team and budget. I progressed within AoC from Parliamentary Officer to become Public Affairs and Communications Director with specific responsibility for Parliamentary and Government relations, media relations, social media and the website for AoC which represents 340+ further education, sixth form and specialist colleges. My key achievements included: Building a strong and cohesive public affairs and communications team with a proven track record and high approval ratings from members. Raised the profile of AoC and of colleges in Whitehall and Westminster, ensuring regular meetings with key ministers and Downing St officials, and significantly improved our media presence. Major policy changes under three Governments, including in the last spending review, through utilising the full range of political and media contacts. Rebuilding communications with members through e-briefing service. Becoming a trusted adviser to the Chief Executive and annually elected Presidents.
