I am a recent graduate from Michigan Technological University with a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), seeking a full-time engineering position. My lifelong interest in what makes different materials behave differently led me to pursue my bachelor's degree in MSE at Michigan Tech. I started out as a General Engineering major, and switched to MSE after going to an open house event for the department. I realized the people there were just like me. In order to explore my MSE studies at Michigan Tech, I joined Advanced Metalworks Enterprise (AME) and worked on several industry-sponsored metallurgical engineering projects, including my senior project. In my senior project, which was sponsored by Mercury Marine, my team investigated the applicability of Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) as a cost-effective and mechanically stable alternative to traditional machining. I took on an undergraduate research project in 3-D printing of composite materials. In my senior year, I took a Metal Casting course in which I gained hands-on foundry experience simulating, designing, pouring, and presenting a life-size ductile iron casting of Thor's Hammer. My education at MTU was more broadly balanced in the scope of materials/engineering processes, with courses in polymers, composites, characterization, and experiment design.In my youth, I was involved with the Boy Scouts and gained several years of volunteering and leadership experience which led me to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. These volunteer and leadership skills were helpful in my college education. At MTU, I also participated in many extracurricular activities with my community and helped start a Knights of Columbus council.
