Christopher J. Waller is currently a Member of the Board of Governors in Washington DC. He was nominated by President Trump in January 2020 and confirmed by the Senate in December 2020. Prior to that he was Executive Vice President and Research Director at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. Previously, Waller held the Gilbert Schaefer Chair of Economics at the University of Notre Dame and the Carol Martin Gatton Chair in Macroeconomics and Monetary Theory at the University of Kentucky. He also taught for many years at Indiana University-Bloomington and served as a visiting professor at Washington University, the University of Mannheim, the University of Bonn, the National University of Ukraine-Kiev, and the University of Canterbury. He has served as a Visiting Scholar at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the Federal Reserve Banks of St. Louis, Cleveland and Minneapolis. He received his bachelor’s degree from Bemidji State University and his doctorate from Washington State University.
