Student Paramedic Course 2015-2017 with the University of Teesside and North East ambulance service

Having served as a medic in Afghanistan with the military, my first-hand experience led to a deep sense of responsibility when I witnessed the unfolding refugee crisis in Syria and Afghanistan. This ignited a profound commitment within me to contribute in any way possible.Initially, I volunteered at the drop-in centre as part of the refugee assistance program. Following six months of service, I took on the responsibility of overseeing and updating the safeguarding aspects of the charity. While the demands of university study have required me to transfer the safeguarding responsibilities, my dedication to supporting the cause persists as I continue volunteering at the drop-in centre whenever my schedule allows.

As a Lance Corporal in the Royal Army Medical Corps, I served as a Combat Medical Technician within the Air Assault Surgical Group of the 16th Medical Regiment, acquiring invaluable front-line experience across diverse army units. Notably, I participated in an operational tour with the 2nd Parachute Regiment, where my responsibilities ranged from independent work to integral collaboration within multi-disciplinary teams, closely coordinating with doctors and specialised nurses.During this tour, I undertook the challenge of providing medical care from helicopters and directly supporting frontline troops. Additionally, I successfully completed the rigorous P Company training, earning the honour of working alongside the esteemed Parachute Regiment and attached airborne divisions.I actively pursued professional development throughout my military career, obtaining military teaching qualifications. These qualifications have equipped me to instruct on Battlefield Casualty and Team Medic drills effectively. This progression within the army highlights my unwavering commitment to continuous improvement and dedication to upholding the highest standards in medical training and care on the battlefield.
