During a career in the potash mining industry spanning more than 20 years , I have acquired considerable experience in leadership and management, coordinating the activities of up to 25 people in a safety critical environment. Renowned for my supportive style, I substantially improved levels of morale and motivation within the team which helped to enhance productivity and efficiency .Having worked through the ranks with Cleveland Potash, I have gained invaluable exposure to all areas of the mining operation, in particular an excellent understanding of health and safety regulations. As a Mine Deputy, I was instrumental in improving safety awareness and understanding across the district through the provision of training and information. I also completed risk assessments, method statements and regular safety audits to achieve full regulatory compliance.A fundamental aspect of my role was to lead investigations into any accidents or incidents that arose within the mine. This involved extensive root cause analysis as well as making recommendations to change ways of working to prevent future recurrence. Having worked in education for four years in a management and HSE role I now run SIGMA Training Ltd offering a variety of courses and HSE advice amongst other services. Numerous qualifications have been completed to enhance my skills and knowledge, including NEBOSH General Certificate, IOSH Working Safely, TROCN Supervisory certificate, NVQ Level 3 Supervisor Management, RTITB Trainer/Assessor, CSCS Academically Qualified person card holder and RSA Counselling Certificate, Level 3 teaching cert, Mental Health First aider.I am now looking for a challenging new position that will utilise my health, safety and managerial expertise and am open to opportunities in the UK or World wide .
