During this placement I gained experience using software including GT Power, StarCCM+ and Converge.•My fourth placement was within the Research and Advanced Engineering team. My main task was to utilise a 1D machine model to compare the fuel consumption using the current transmission with that of a CVT.• I am currently on caterpillars MPDS Scheme working towards becoming a chartered engineer. • I produced a number of design solutions to reduce the amount of stress relaxation in a number of bolted joints within an antenna produced by the telecommunications company Huawei, I then model the designs in CAD and carry out FE analysis on them.• Then carry out physical testing in order to measure the stress relaxation in the new designs and produced an analytical model to help compare the various designs.
