Protecting the quality and quantity of groundwater across the Yorkshire area. Wide ranging duties included:·Water situation reporting and drought – Weekly reports to brief the area drought group as part of our response to prolonged dry weather, I have also fed into a review of Yorkshire’s groundwater drought triggers. Monthly groundwater situation reports feed into the published water situation reports.·Abstraction licensing – Reviewing applications and alterations for groundwater abstraction licenses, this involves producing site specific hydrogeological risk assessments.·Contaminated land – Project support for the Crigglestone investigation. The former colliery and coking works is a high profile investigation conducted jointly by national and area EA, Wakefield Council, HSE and consultants Arcadis. I worked across these parties in order to help coordinate our communications and engagement strategy to the affected residents.·Planning applications – Protecting groundwater resources through my input into planning consultations.·Environmental Permitting Regulations – Reviewing permit applications for activities such as discharge to ground.·Information requests – Responding to requests for information such as groundwater level data.

· Providing the first point of contact with external customers including Local Planning Authorities and developers.· Coordinating advice from technical teams on subjects including flood risk, contaminated land, biodiversity and pollution to water courses.· Influencing and persuading external customers to deliver safer developments with improved environmental outcomes.· Producing formal planning responses within negotiated timescales.· Liaising with a broad range of internal and external customers to ensure we maintain a quality service which balances the needs of the environment with promoting economic growth.

· Volunteer role on the charities executive committee. Responsibility to both maintain a quality service and ensure safety of volunteers & staff by reviewing and updating policies and procedures as necessary.

· Successfully designed and pitched my project to the Coordinator of London Nightline & staff from Imperial’s Internship unit to receive sponsorship from Imperial College.· Produced a detailed report into feedback about London Nightline.
