I hold a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts from Thomas Aquinas College, in Santa Paula, California, and a Master's in theology from Holy Apostles College and Seminary, Cromwell, ConnecticutSince my graduation from Thomas Aquinas College in 1987, I have worked as an editor, writer, and teacher. For twelve years, I served as the managing editor and a writer for two monthly periodicals, each reaching from 25,000 to 30,000 readers in northern and southern California. My output as a writer for these publications was roughly 13,000 words a month. I have contributed articles and research projects to numerous publications.I have written three books for use in Catholic schools for the Catholic Textbook Project: an American history text for fifth grade, From Sea to Shining Sea, which has reached a second edition; a history of the modern world, Light to the Nations II: The Making of the Modern World, published in 2011; and Lands of Hope and Promise: A History of North America, which we hope to publish in 2013-2014. These books are unique in that, though they are textbooks, they are written in the mode of story. I am currently the general editor for the Catholic Textbook Project and, as such, have worked extensively on other volumes in the series. My teaching experience includes eight years in a formal classroom setting at secondary schools in Connecticut and California. I taught several subjects: Euclidean geometry, algebra, English grammar, classical and English literature, Latin, history (European and American), and theology. For twelve years, I have tutored and held small, informal classes with high school students in classical and English literature, European history, Latin, and theology.
