I have been a university research assistant for almost a year developing content using R Shiny for interactive web-based economic modules to assist with undergraduate teaching. In the fall 2022 semester, I also held a job as a university teaching assistant for Principles of Economics, a freshman-level course.My master's thesis involves a review and study into homelessness, especially in New York City over the last decade and how educational policies have impacted this group of people.As a lieutenant commander (O-4), naval aviator, in the United States Navy Reserves, I deliver classroom and in-flight instruction to US military and allied flight students. Over the past three years I generally teach during the summers in Pensacola, FL, which has allowed me to continue a career in academia. In 2021, I was awarded reserve (part-time) instructor of the year at NAS Whiting Field out of approximately 100 reserve instructors.I separated from active duty service in May of 2019 after 11 years, 2,300 flight hours, and two overseas deployments. I spent the remainder of the year volunteering as the manager of a small recycling company in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to gain experience working in a low-income country. Over the past two years as a part-time reservist, I have logged over 400 flight hours training new instructors and flight students.
