Chris has been working in the impact investing space for the past fifteen years. He is a thought leader in the impact investment community. His experience covers a diverse set of impact areas, including the environment, sustainability, social justice, health, and education. Chris has experience evaluating and underwriting both direct and fund investments in the impact space. Over the years he has also worked on and developed extensive models for evaluating and measuring impact and designing portfolios to align desired financial returns with focused impact metrics.Chris Bentley is the Managing Director of the DECarceration Fund. The De-Carceration Fund is designed to invest and support highly innovative enterprises that are working to eliminate the suffering caused by the US Criminal Justice System. The fund operates using a radically different model that is focused on returning power to those who have had it taken away from them. Chris served as a fund manager for Serious Change Investments, an Impact Venture Capital Fund focused on growing visionary companies. Prior to joining Serious Change, Chris was a principal at SustainVC which manages a series of venture capital investment funds called the Patient Capital Collaborative (PCC). Closely associated with Investors’ Circle, PCC makes investments in early-stage companies that look to provide meaningful social and/or environmental benefit to the world. Chris began his impact investing career as an associate with Murex Investment, a community development venture capital firm focused on job creation in underserved communities. In this role, he assisted with the portfolio management of Murex Investments I, LP. Chris is a Co-Founder and former Executive Director of GoodCompany Ventures, a business incubator targeting entrepreneurs with innovative solutions to large unmet social needs. Chris also served as Program Director for Investors’ Circle Philadelphia local network from its founding in 2009 to 2014. Chris was formerly a professor at Temple University’s Fox School of Business. Chris began his career in 1994 in the electronics manufacturing industry where he held a number of finance and operations management roles. Chris has an MBA from Temple University, Fox School of Business and a BS in Engineering from Northeastern University.
