    Responsible for maintaining a multi-tiered, multihomed network consisting of an IBM AS/400 and RS/6000, Linux servers, and Windows and X-Windows(X11) workstations. When I joined Bass & Associates, I migrated the company from legacy Windows NT servers to an array of Linux servers. Using a combination of Apache, Mysql, PHP, Samba and sendmail I successfully eliminated the Windows dependency and performed a transparent server migration to Linux. Among the migrations were file-services; and Microsoft Exchange 5.5 to Linux qmail conversion. In addition to the Network upgrade and maintenance, I programmed the corporate intranet using PHP and Perl. This intranet interfaces directly with MySQL and IBM DB2(AS/400) databases and provides management with real-time summary information. Remote network access was provided via a Cisco PIX Firewall VPN appliance and a Ascent Max 200 Dial-up modem pool.• Responsible for maintaining an 80+ user heterogeneous network, consisting of Unix (IBM AIX – RS/6000), IBM AS/400 (e Series) V4R3, Linux, and Windows NT servers• Implement security and disaster recovery policies / practices (including periodic review for timeliness)• Implement backup strategies and recovery plans.• Review web server, gateway, and kerberos server logs for intrusion attempts • Implemented and maintained a Virtual Private Network (VPN) between corporate headquarters and satellite offices (Tucson, AZ).• Prioritize and distribute overwhelming workloads• Write custom shell scripts to perform various automated maintenance routines• Manage / Oversee workstation integration and software licenses.
