My career goal is to apply the high-level skills in community engagement and the management of stakeholder relationships, which I have developed working for State Government. My aim is to work with an organisation that values strategic development and continuous improvement. My core strengths are best utilised when working with executive management to influence the organisation’s strategic planning and positioning through public participation. In July – August 2012, I was invited and funded by the Kettering Foundation to undertake a study tour in the USA. To say the journey was life-changing is an understatement. The focus of the tour was to further develop my understanding of the methodologies and frameworks behind the community engagement tools dialogue and deliberation, it gave me a deeper level of understanding of both. I believe dialogue and deliberation to be the most important and powerful tools of any engagement. In July 2013 I returned to the United States of America to take part in the Kettering Foundation's ‘Doing Democracy around the World’ workshop. The workshop is a part of a larger Deliberative Democracy Exchange, research undertaken by the Kettering Foundation. This was an opportunity for me to work with individuals from across the world to explore the conditions under which citizens assume responsibility for changing their communities and shaping their futures using deliberative approaches. As with my study tour in the states last year, I was again sponsored by the Kettering Foundation.I will be returning to the United States of America in April 2014 to attend the Kettering Foundations 'Multinational Learning Exchange' to be held in Dayton Ohio. Specialties: Community engagement framework and systems developmentManaging complex stakeholder relationshipsStrategic organisational puzzle solving using an Appreciative Inquiry framework with a strengths based approach and an underpinning philosophy of 'leaving no-one behind'.
