  • Dchat
    Engineer
    Dchat May 2018 - Present
Technologies used: Node.js, React.js (classes and hooks, redux, router, etc), Firebase (sharded RTDB, Firestore, Functions, storage, auth), WebRTC, Python, pandas, Keras, Tensorflow, Ray-project, rllib, BigQuery (SQL), Google Compute Engine (VMs), Google Cloud StorageCreated a React and Firebase (Google Cloud) website that does **realtime one to many peer to peer video streaming without quality loss** and chat sessions, complete with credit card payments (Netbilling) and tips like Twitch, but it ***has no bandwidth or server costs for the video***. It has payout integrations with Paxum and CheckIssuing.I am also working with SNAIL-like networks using Ray-project and Keras to predict non-periodic time series data. Previously for this task I was using Google AutoML, BigQuery (SQL), and AI platform notebooks, but I needed multiple output heads from the network--for feeding into rllib--and lower training cost so I switched. Training data and models are held on Google Cloud Storage (the non-Firebase version).
  • Universal Engineering Services
    Engineer
Universal Engineering Services Jul 2020 - Oct 2021
Languages used: VBA, VB.net, C#, C++Wrote software for automating Inventor assembly generation (using plain Inventor and Forge) and flotation calculations (list, trim, restoring moment arm, partially submerged buoyancy of solid models and STL files).Contract engineering for external clients. Typical examples would be to help a client upgrade and troubleshoot their equipment such as floating docks, fracking pump trailers, blending units, rock crushers, conveyors, etc. We used Excel, ANSYS (structural and vibrational analyses), Inventor and Forge (CAD and scripting), Solidworks, or straight C++ for calculations.Originally full time; voluntarily went contract in February 2021 to pursue personal projects (related to applied machine learning).
  • Oil States Industries
    Engineer
Oil States Industries Nov 2007 - Jun 2020
    Arlington, Tx, Us
Languages used: Node.js, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Emscripten, C++, Mathematica, VBA, MAPDLWrote software for the following aspects of this job (most complex first):Floating crane capacity analysis, sea spectra conversion to Cv impact statistics for API 2C LRFD following NBS577, crane and boom optimization for max strength to weight ratio, crane component database synthesis (regression related program), knuckle boom configuration, FEA weld line load extraction, sub-sea lift analysis, rigging selection and load chart reduction (crane, hoist, pressure, flow, rope), special shock absorption, hydraulic power calculations and corresponding pump section selection (also lookup driven), and total mass and cost estimation (raw materials, purchased components, fabrication and assembly labor)Best Projects / Hardware:Mid-air boom splice bridge, Block Island Wind Farm blade carrier frame, 1000Bs, CUEL Stage + Phase merger, mid-air ballring changeout table, Platong 1500Ls. A typical project required me to: read customer specifications, create and submit approval drawings (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and general layouts [crane, engine, pedestal stub adapter, etc...]), create fabrication drawings (brackets, weldments), select and order components to meet specifications and drawings, edit maintenance manuals, and support installation teams remotely. The main industry standards we followed to do this work were: API 2C, AISC 360 (and older), AWS D1.1.Patents and professional certifications are listed in another section.Active committee member of API 2C 7th Edition Specification for Offshore Pedestal Mounted Cranes and voting member on the 8th Edition, notably creating equations 3 and 4 of the standard (there are many equations; this was a foundational contribution), and the LRFD software mentioned above.Nov 2007 – Jul 2011, Project Engineer IJul 2011 – Feb 2012, Project Engineer IIFeb 2012 – Feb 2014, Design Engineer IIIFeb 2014 – Jun 2020, Senior Design Engineer
  • Kettering University Mechanical Engineering Department
    Graduate Research & Teaching Assistant
Kettering University Mechanical Engineering Department Oct 2003 - Dec 2004
    Flint, Mi, Us
I worked on a thermodynamic model for fuel cell simulation. I also taught a few sections of Energy Systems Laboratory to Mechanical Engineering junior and senior undergraduates. I supplemented Dr. Pourmovahed's lectures with some of my own, created and assigned homework, assigned lab reports, designed parts of tests that all class sections took, graded the aformentioned coursework, and supervised lab safety. The labs included work with fuel cells, a small jet engine, a wind tunnel (and wing with pressure distribution montioring and lift force measurement), a centrifugal pump system, two fan systems, and other equipment.
  • Louisiana State University Mechanical Engineering Department
    Research Assistant
Louisiana State University Mechanical Engineering Department Aug 2002 - Oct 2003
    Baton Rouge, La, Us
I extended mathematical and FORTRAN computer models for dynamic compaction of granular particles to include tracking of local temperature profiles at grain boundaries. I also administrated a small workstation-based cluster of GNU/Linux machines used for numerical computation of the computer model. I used SSH, BASH, and MPICH to make the machines execute in parallel.
  • Louisiana State University Mechanical Engineering Department
    Webmaster
Louisiana State University Mechanical Engineering Department Aug 2001 - Jan 2003
    Baton Rouge, La, Us
I updated the chapter's web page with event information and student information, including résumés.
  • Louisiana State University Mechanical Engineering Department
    Research Assistant
Louisiana State University Mechanical Engineering Department Jan 2002 - May 2002
    Baton Rouge, La, Us
I created a two dimensional and a three dimensional model in ANSYS (using the built-in scripting language) for simulating the cooling characteristics of vane-embedded heat pipes in turbine blades.
  • Movieland Video
    Assistant Manager
    Movieland Video Aug 2001 - Jan 2002
I deposited weekend revenue in the bank after closing the store. I operated the cash register and the point of sale application. I posted weekly specials on inside and roadside signs, including programming an electric sign. I helped people find movies they might've liked. I filed and sorted large numbers of customer applications and movies. I handled troublesome and sometimes argumentative customers. I repaired tapes and VCRs.
