I am currently President of the student run Longhorn Baseball Club operating under the University of Texas' Recreational Sports Division.In this position I am learning many of the skills needed in professional careers. I coordinate tryouts and assemble our roster which helps with Recruiting new players and Team Building. I take on many of the basic leadership roles that come with running on organization. I have to set up field locations, create our schedule, reach out to other teams, raise money and collect dues, coordinate practice and game information, create a lineup, work out umpire and field payments, as well as design and order new equipment such as jerseys and hats for the team. This position covers organization, management, leadership, strategic planning, money management, analytics, and many of the other basic building blocks of a strong leader. One of the biggest difficulties in this role is being a leader but also being the same age as the players I lead over. It is a huge accomplishment to have people your own age that you are friend with listen to you and respect you as one of the leaders of their organization and see you as more than just their peer.
