As Manager, I was in charge of the day to day running of the Palm Beach branch of Delivery Dudes LLC. On arrival, I made sure that each driver's kit that they used to make transactions was properly set up and that the previous night's dinner transactions were all accounted for. Throughout the day I ran dispatch, taking orders on the phone and online and calling them in to the various restaurants that we delivered from in downtown West Palm Beach. Additionally, I was responsible for calculating and distributing payment to employees as well as depositing cash into the PBDD bank account. I also put up advertisements around town to attract new drivers, and would subsequently train those we acquired. Lastly, I trained my successor to take over the management position once I left the job.

US Army Cadet Command, Cultural Understanding and Language Proficiency ProgramI was part of a group of 8 cadets from around the country led by a senior enlisted soldier and accompanied by a civilian university professor. We spent two weeks at Ft. Knox, KY preparing and attending briefings about all aspects of Vietnamese society, and also learning techniques for teaching English. Following that, we went to Hanoi for two weeks. There we went to the Vietnamese Army's Language Academy where we taught Vietnamese military officers English. We worked for two three hour blocks: one in the morning and one in the afternoon. After instruction, we would often stay and play sports with them We thoroughly explored Hanoi, and on the weekend we had the opportunity to go to Halong Bay.

Taiwan

US Army Cadet Command, Cultural Understanding and Language Proficiency ProgramI was a part of a group of around 20 cadets from around the country led by 3 US Army officers. We spent five days at Ft. Knox, KY preparing and attending briefings about all aspects of Taiwan's society. Following that, we went to Taiwan for three weeks. The first week was spent at the ROC Military Academy where we observed life among our Taiwan cadet counterparts. We attended exercises and also left the academy and were shown the surrounding city of Gaoxiong. The second two weeks were spent traveling around Taiwan, visiting such places as Kending, Hualian, Jilong, and Taibei, among others. In addition to learning an enormous amount about Taiwan and East Asia, I also found plenty of opportunities to practice my Mandarin Chinese.

Xi'An, China

US Army Cadet Command, Cultural Understanding and Language Proficiency ProgramI was part of a group of some 22 cadets from around the country led by 2 US Army officers. I spent five days at Schofield Barracks preparing and attending briefings about all aspects of Chinese society. Following that, I went to Xi'an China for three weeks. There I worked as a volunteer at an elementary school where another cadet and I taught a class of some 30 six year old children English. In addition to our volunteer duties, our group traveled all around the Xi'an area, experiencing the culture and taking in the sights. This all gave me valuable experience practicing my Mandarin Chinese.
