Chris is a partner in Steptoe's Washington, D.C.office. He is a member of the Litigation Department and the firm's Securities Litigation & Enforcement and White-Collar Groups. He also co-heads the SEC Enforcement practice. Chris returned to Steptoe after a 17-year career in the Division of Enforcement of the US Securities and Exchange Commission, where he was a Branch Chief, Deputy Assistant Director, Assistant Director, and Associate Director. Chris' practice includes representing public companies, financial services firms, hedge funds, asset managers, accountants, and individuals in enforcement investigations and proceedings by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, state securities regulators, and federal criminal authorities. Chris' practice also focuses on internal investigations, representing clients in Foreign Corrupt Practices Act matters, and advising clients with respect to corporate governance and securities law compliance.
