About Christopher Doss

I am the director of the Mobile Health Interoperability Lab at North Carolina A & T State University. The principal aim for the lab is to provide a testbed for developing applications that integrate mobile devices with electronic health record systems. The lab is composed of a variety of mobile health equipment, including: • Medical devices: the lab contains a variety of medical devices, including GE ECG machine, GE vital signs monitor, Bluetooth weight scale, Bluetooth pulse oximeter, Advanced Geri Manikin (capable of mimicking vital signs), and Pronk Technologies Simulators (capable of mimicking vital signs).• Mobile devices: iPads, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10”, Samsung Galaxy Tab 7”, and Microsoft Surface 2 Pro• Development platforms: iMac 3.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 for development of applications for iPad; Lenovo Windows 7 workstations for development of applications for Windows and Android; Bluetooth development kits for observing data from devices• Development software: Bluetooth SDK, Android SDK, iOS SDK, Microsoft Visual Studio• Mirth Appliance: Dedicated server for filtering, transforming, and routing messages.• Server: Dell PowerEdge Server with VMWARE. Server is used for creating up to 25 virtual machines that will each contain health information system and sample patient data. Current projects include: the development of Android applications that will capture data from medical devices and transform information into FHIR format;the development of Windows 8 applications that will capture data from medical devices and transform information into FHIR formatI am also actively involved with the Mobile Health group at Health Level 7 (HL7).
