Cbrn Recconnaissance Platoon Leader

I led a CBRN reconnaissance team, whose worldwide mission to detect, mitigate and protect US forces from weapons of mass destruction, supported a 3000-person Brigade Combat Team. I planned and directed all training of CBRN Soldiers within the team and the Brigade. My responsibilities included training, employment, maintenance and deployment of $1.1 million of equipment.-I led a five-person team through its first full-spectrum combat rotation in 10 years. Resulted in operational readiness qualification, critical in supporting the Brigade’s full joint operations readiness qualification. -Command selected me from a 200-officer pool to manage the Brigade equipment distribution yard to Army and Brigade policies and standards. My team insured over 630 pieces of equipment were efficiently drawn, used, and returned without loss.-Planned and conducted essential occupational skills training for 12-person reconnaissance team, resulting in all personnel receiving Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Technician certification.-Directed battalion-wide certification and documentation of hazardous materials for over 100 pieces of equipment and 10 shipping containers prior to interstate transportation with a 100% inspection pass rate.-My team was the only team, out of a 150-person unit pool, who received a 100% qualification in mission essential sustainment training.-Battalion Commander identified me as “one of the top performers” in the battalion who “flawlessly led critical missions.”-Assisted commanders with decisions that aid in the preservation of combat power and enable continued combat operations.

Deployed Battalion Chemical Officer/Liaison Officer

Afghanistan

Led management and implementation of 650-person in theater battalion chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear training program across six distinct companies. I liaised with numerous Army organizations of various echelons across 8 provinces in a combat environment on behalf of my battalion.-Led planning and operations in Afghanistan to receive, house, train and transport over 1,700 Brigade personnel. I worked with in-country Army and Air Force logistics personnel to stream line training and logistics programs and schedules which ensured efficient Brigade stand-up with immediate impact across our operations area.-Supported Brigade and Battalion level communication at planning meetings up to and including video teleconferences between Brigade and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The brigade commander appointed me as his recording secretary for all staff meetings and briefings. My responsibilities included the documentation and distribution of information across our area of operations to the theater commanders and external agencies.-Created, coordinated and implemented an execution matrix to redeploy 400 personnel and $80 million of equipment from Afghanistan to the US with full accountability insuring timely unit arrivals and their successful States-side reintegration.-Coordinated and distributed over 260 brigade commander’s briefs. I attended all Brigade level planning meetings. I provided secretariat support for all brigade planning meetings up to and including video teleconferences. -Rated by commander in the top 20% of First Lieutenants who “ensured mission success while deployed” and recommended for promotion ahead of peers.

I led a small team of two other individuals in managing and implementing a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear training program across six distinct companies in a 650-person special troops battalion. My team completed every training project and requirement on time.-Assumed the demanding task of information and knowledge management to ensure all training was successfully completed in accordance with the Brigade and Battalion Commanders' training guidance. -Selected by the battalion commander to manage a new equipment training and fielding project during which I coordinated training for over 300 soldiers on over 30 pieces of new equipment meeting full operational readiness requirements prior to combat deployment.-Planned, coordinated and managed a unit project involving 500-person with a budget of $30,000, including the logistics, marketing, contractor vetting and contractor selection. -Commander evaluated me in the top 20% of my peer group for “exceptional performance” and “clearly operating way above” experience level; noting my “unlimited potential” including a recommendation for promotion ahead of peers.
