Began as an individual contributor and transitioned to lead engineering at Enolink, an early-phase company providing decentralized data usage, AI modeling, and secure collaboration between clinical data systems. Led the delivery of the T2DM patient risk prediction dashboard, successfully piloted in a clinical setting. Built core Kubernetes-based data analysis and ML pipeline systems deployed on-premises (at SNUBH in Seoul, KR), AWS, GCP, and other cloud environments. Recruited, onboarded, and managed additional engineers, expanding the team and enhancing overall productivity. Led the team in refining company-wide planning and delivery processes and documenting Enolink’s SDLC to support compliance and readiness certifications. Engineering manager for the Data Engineering team within Broad’s Data Sciences Platform group that processes ~100 TB per day and manages ~100 PB, one of the world’s largest health information datasets. Recruited engineers to form two new teams, increasing team size ~30% and helped lead restructuring of the organization to better align with product strategy. Since 2018, data throughput has increased 30X; oversaw revamp of operational strategies to double throughput of data management tasks. Developed data automation portal to capture customer requests and transitioned ownership to Ops team; now almost 50% of data management tasks such as data delivery and reanalysis are completely automated. Updated incident management processes to clarify communication and metrics - received positive feedback from Ops team and customers praising increased transparency. Led standardization of SDLC across DSP’s engineering teams - the documented process was easy to adopt and facilitated government approvals.

Built and operated all customer facing and internal online services available 24/7 to an international user base with no major outages. Established and coordinated supply-chain, product fulfillment and return processes that scaled from a few prototypes to 2,400 bike controller units for online multiplayer fitness products sold through online channels such as Amazon.

Established and led Engineering Platform team providing core services (e.g., identity, permissions, monitoring) shared across customer platforms. Revamped Commercial Services’ maintenance strategy to bring average issue resolution time from 25 to 7 days.

Led a global team providing continuous delivery capabilities to worldwide community of Novartis developers. Responsible for core engineering productivity tooling, fully automated hybrid-cloud as infrastructure services, and global test engineering services. Participated in both engineering and operations leadership teams in order to both bridge and buffer shared issues and opportunities. Implemented automated SDLC processes and policies as they pertained to infrastructure and security. - Spearheaded cloud adoption and migration activities at NIBR. Developed Cloud as Infrastructure strategies and established policies, processes and tooling for cloud resource management in AWS. - Established and lead a global team of software engineers, system integrators that provided a complete software delivery tool chain to Novartis developers. - Worked between engineers and operations to ensure smooth delivery of newly developed systems. Coordinated joint activities and evangelized a “DevOps” mindset where sysadmins and developers share responsibility for development execution, software delivery and production support. - Member of the security advisory board that developed strategies and processes for security risk mitigation and incident response. - Worked with Cyber Security Team on S-SDLC capabilities by educating developers, integrating software for vulnerability scanning and automating software update and patch procedures. - Received a “Novartis Global IT Innovation Award” in 2013 for delivering self-service cloud automation called CID (Continuous Integration and Delivery) to the NIBR community. This service allowed developers to launch full stacks in minutes to support their development and testing. CID was built using Chef, Node.js, AWS and Linux technologies. - Selected to participate in the “Advance, Achieve and Connect” program, which sent me on a sabbatical to corporate headquarters in Basel Switzerland.

Primary investigator and development team lead for programs, products and services delivering intelligent services. Designed and developed artificial intelligence algorithms and services. - Designed and developed the JIT Market, a market based optimization solution for the missile defense domain, which manages tasks for radar and intercept platforms in a decentralized manner. This system extended and enhanced traditional simulated market mechanisms to allocate heterogeneous goods more efficiently. These solutions provide real-time adaptive scheduling for hospitals, complex construction projects, emergency response teams as well as radar, satellite and weapons systems. Authored and presented several papers detailing innovations related to market based optimization. - Analyst lead and data collection lead for Limited Technical Experiments using modern tools and methodologies directed at advancing real time control and management systems for the Department of Defense. Worked with communities of interest to define objectives, design experiments, integrate and instrument technologies, execute experiments, collect data as well as analyze and present results. - Developed real-time analytic tools that support prototype assessment within the Navy’s Pacific Fleet. This system was modeled on “Google Analytics” but is designed to handle classified data. It collects, aggregates and displays the activities of Navy watch captains. - Worked with a large, diverse group of industry partners and government agencies resulting in profitable, long-term projects. Wrote winning proposals and statements of work. - Employed agile and traditional project management skills to lead a development team and deliver successful and profitable projects. Managed resources, monitored and controlled scope and costs, and engaged stakeholders. - Primary inventor for two patents: a) “Objective Decision Making Application Using Bias Weighting Factors” and b) “Sensor Network Optimization Algorithm.”
