Specific elements of this position include:- Assisting in the coordination of transportation services through oversight of daily operations including office and driver staff, vehicles, passenger related concerns, scheduling, coordination internal to Craven County, coordination with entities external to Craven County, and a variety of administrative duties.- Screens applications, conducts interviews, and recommends for hire prospective driver applicants.- Trains and supervises all office and driver staff, regularly conducting training development, assignment of required training, evaluation, tracking, and reporting of completed training to local and state counterparts.- Oversees vehicle maintenance including regular schedule maintenance and unscheduled maintenance through coordination with multiple service providers, maintenance record keeping, and providing solutions to maintenance concerns as they occur to ensure uninterrupted service to passengers. - Resolves passenger, agency, and general public complaints through detailed investigation and reporting.- Assists the Transportation Director in all areas as necessary to ensure optimal operations and future departmental planning.- Drive routes as required.Distinguishing Features of this Class:- Ability to balance between shifting priorities in a dynamic public serving organization.- Experience in leading an organization with consistent personnel and logistical needs.- Willingness to provide honest and reliable guidance to senior staff.- Communication skills to interpret policy and directives in a receptive manner for a diverse team.
