Driving broad organizational change for effectiveness and efficiency for the future of nuclear energy based on trust and confidence in the Agency's 50-year history in licensing and overseeing the U.S. nuclear fleet.Under my leadership key accomplishments of the agency include:- Issuance of three construction permits for advanced reactors, the first in over 50 years- Approval of testing, acceptance, and startup of Plant Vogtle Units 3 & 4- Publication of risk-informed, technology neutral licensing framework for advance and small reactors, putting risk insights in a leading role- Establishment of key policy and regulatory frameworks for advanced reactor licensing: flexible emergency planning zone sizing, risk-informed siting guidelines, scalable security approaches, right-sized codes and standards to reflect enhanced safety of new designs- Streamlined environmental reviews through process improvements, policy changes, and establishment and revision of Generic Environmental Impact Statements- Streamlined subsequent license reviews for operating fleet based on previous reviews and licensee operational experience- Vastly expanded international engagement in support U.S. policy priorities and commercial interests - Revitalized university recruitment programs, including re-establishment of the Minority Serving Institution Grant Program to build pipelines to HBCUs, HSIs, and other MSIs
