Christopher Hibma is a nonprofit leader in culture, strategy, and international program design. Currently, he is the Interim Chief Operating Officer for HB Studio founded by Herbert Berghof and Uta Hagen, the Founding Chair of the Board of Trustees for Zoukak, a Lebanese ensemble using theatre as a vital ecosystem and space of action for artists as well as a Senior Advisor to Ettijahat-Independent Culture, a Syrian NGO in Beirut. He has served as a consultant to The Apollo Theater and the design firm IDEO. He is a member of the Guild of Future Architects, an animator for equitable societies governed by the principles of regeneration and interdependence. Previously, Christopher was the Global Director for Videos for Change, a refuge for young people to express themselves through original, short-form video content on issues most important to them as well as a member of the National Advisory Council for Creative Capital, which uplifts underserved, risk-taking artists with unrestricted project grants, professional development, and community-building services to advance freedom of expression and foster sustainable careers.In his role as the Director of Sundance Institute’s Theatre Program, Christopher built one of the world’s leading brands and most diverse rosters of artists and created artist residencies all over the world. He worked to expand the Program’s cultural impact outside the US, with an emphasis on storytelling from East Africa and the Arab Region/diaspora. He has collaborated with the LumaArles in France, D-CAF in Egypt, the Rolex Mentors & Protégés Arts Initiative in Switzerland, the Office of the King Mohammed VI and Dar al-Ma’mun in Morocco, the Kampala International Theatre Festival in Uganda, Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia and the Nairobi Musical Theatre Initiative in Kenya.
