Christopher James is an architect who specializes in tall buildings and automation for the design process. His professional experience has focused on tall building design, with specialization in automation processes including computational tools, data-driven design, generative model building and robotics programming. He holds a Master of Architecture from Columbia University, and is a licensed architect in New York state. His interest in tall buildings and verticality has also led to the founding of the On Verticality blog, which explores the innate human need to escape the surface of the earth.Professionally, Christopher is currently Generative Design Lead at Silverstein Properties in New York. Previously, he has worked as Head of Computation for a New York startup, the New York and London offices of KPF as a designer and urban information modeler, and the Chicago offices of SOM and Cannon Design as a designer. He is also creator and founder of the World Architecture Map (WAM), an online building database that maps and tags relevant architecture around the world.
