My Job- Managed and implemented the Wing Commander's Flight Safety Program for the largest, most complex special operations wing the Air Force- Interfaced with counterparts at Joint Special Operations Command; Air Force Special Operations Command; the Air Force Safety Center; and commanders, staff chiefs, and unit safety representatives in the wing; four groups; and 26 squadrons- Responsible for the assessment of mishap potential of six distinct aircraft involved in world-wide operations- Participated in contingency operation and exercise planning- Participated in joint and international exercises- Maintained no-notice, world-wide mobility and combat-ready statusWhat I Did• Managed and implemented the Wing Commander's Flight Safety Program for a wing of six unique airframes, interfacing with several major commands, the Air Force Safety Center, and personnel from 26 squadrons; implemented popular safety presentation program, raising awareness of critical issues unique to the Wing’s operating environment• Overhauled Wing’s Bird Strike Monitoring and Reporting program to simplify and increase reporting, collection, tracking and deterrence; new program resulted in increased awareness, more accurate data, and a 32% drop in birdstrikes• Instructor Pilot – ensured standardization and qualification of all pilots in aircraft and mission areas, providing 100% mission-ready aircrews for special operations missions
