Key projects focussed on transforming business operations at an enterprise level for local, national and international business functions. Developing business and marketing plans for technology based startups as founder and working with new and emerging founders and startups to assist them in achieving their business goals. Provide coaching and mentoring to business leaders and executives helping them achieve their personal and professional goals. Provide consulting to organizations to design and develop technology in government focussed conferences as well as supporting these events as conference chair, moderator and keynote speaker.

As the inaugural Chief Information Officer at the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), I have effectively established in a very short period of time a new direction of the digital transformation at the authority. I have had to work closely with business unit and division leadership to establish a trusted business partner relationship while at the same time defining the role of the CIO in the organization.

In my role as Chief Information Officer, I provided vision and leadership over the City’s information and technology direction. I had fulfillment and freedom in my work and as a leader, I desired to see those around me attain fulfillment and freedom as well. During the past 5+ years, a new course has been charted regarding the use of Information and Technology at the City of Edmonton. The IT Branch has been re-created so that people are empowered to fulfill their role, the IT leadership team has been transformed and a new IM/IT Strategy is in place. IT is a key resource for achieving the city’s 30-year strategic plan and I have led the effort to bring IT and the corporation into the 21st century. I am an advocate of an Open Ecosystem, Opengov, and Open Data, and I desire to see my team embrace innovation, pursuing the possible and building the future together. I was accountable for over 450 IT staff (350) and contractors (100) as well as a $70MM annual operating budget and a $50MM three year capital program. Over the past 5 years I provided the city with an overall budget reduction of $9MM through innovation and alternative service delivery.As Chief Information officer I was responsible for over $340 MM of Information and Technology assets in use across the cities 5 departments and 32 branches. The complex network of systems and technology supported over 12,000 city employees covering thousands of business processes and hundreds of computer applications. I was responsible for a 7x24 operation ensuring that all technology systems were in place and working to run a city with 854,000 citizens. In my role I also worked closely with the City of Calgary CIO on a number of joint projects. I was also responsible for ensuring effective partnership with external stakeholders such as the Government of Alberta and the Government of Canada.

Executive responsible for the development of the City of Brampton Corporate Customer Service Strategy. As a member of the Management Services Management Team, reoriented staff, business processes and IT/corporate strategy allowing IT to reestablish itself as a key strategic solutions and delivery partner. From day one, developed strategic relationships with all members of the Senior Management Team, in order to provide value for their business and allow IT to deliver on business plan objectives. Responsible for over 150 IT and Call Centre staff as well as a $13 million annual operating budget and a $80 million ten year capital program.

As a member of the Enbridge Commercial Services Senior Management Team drove new business in the core areas of service delivery with a focus on professional services and year over year revenue generation. Functioned as a catalyst in the area of account management and business development. Provided direction to business development team in pursuing strategic opportunities that will positively impact shareholder value.

Responsible for all post sales activities including planning, design, implementation and operations, as well as the firm’s consulting practice and maintenance services. Member of the senior management team representing the professional services and operations groups. Other duties included staff management, purchasing, logistics, help desk and inventory.

Promoted to Manager after 6 months as Supervisor to oversee day to day management of all information systems infrastructure and telecommunications systems, including desktop computers, servers, cabling and distribution systems as well as all telephone PBX and key systems. Other responsibilities included computer operations, switchboard and emergency telecommunications services. Also provided day-to-day leadership to five direct reports and 13 indirect reports.

Worked in a number of roles in the Toronto Office, National Office, both providing internal technology support and participated in client engagements as an IT expert resource.
