IT is a key resource for achieving the city’s 30-year strategic plan and I have led the effort to bring IT and the corporation into the 21st century. I am an advocate of an Open Ecosystem, Opengov, and Open Data, and I desire to see my team embrace innovation, pursuing the possible and building the future together. I was accountable for over 450 IT staff (350) and contractors (100) as well as a $70MM annual operating budget and a $50MM three year capital program. Over the past 5 years I provided the city with an overall budget reduction of $9MM through innovation and alternative service delivery.As Chief Information officer I was responsible for over $340 MM of Information and Technology assets in use across the cities 5 departments and 32 branches. The complex network of systems and technology supported over 12,000 city employees covering thousands of business processes and hundreds of computer applications. I was responsible for a 7x24 operation ensuring that all technology systems were in place and working to run a city with 854,000 citizens. In my role I also worked closely with the City of Calgary CIO on a number of joint projects. I was also responsible for ensuring effective partnership with external stakeholders such as the Government of Alberta and the Government of Canada.
