Established and led the Development Outsourcing function, which included all sourcing and contracting activities, implementing supplier relationship management and governance, clinical site contracting and budgeting, and forecasting and financial oversight of external spend.A key achievement was the successful PhIII program level supplier selection for CRO and biometrics services (with an estimated spend >$300M).

Rebuilt and led the Development Outsourcing function, a team of 12, covering outsourcing of all services from early research through to late stage clinical trials, clinical site and HCP contracting, and supplier relationship management and governance for key strategic relationships (both site and supplier).As the company downsized, the role included the oversight of a significant reduction in workforce and amalgamation of two functions to form a single company-wide Sourcing and Procurement organization (inclusive of Contract Manufacturing and G&A Procurement).

Established and led the Strategic Pricing function including the implementation of new pricing models for fully decentralized clinical trials (virtual sites only), metasites services (one virtual site amongst traditional sites), hybrid trial services (virtual patient visits on a traditional trial) and enterprise wide technology licensing.Key role in the client relationship management activities on strategic accounts such as Boehringer Ingelheim, Novartis, Amgen, Sanofi and PPD.

Established the new CRO & Patient Engagement Category Management team, a team of 6, within broader R&D Procurement, with accountability for optimizing all CRO and clinical site spend across Roche & Genentech globally (an estimated spend of >$2.5B).A key achievement was the renewal of MSAs and rate cards with favorable terms for the three strategic CRO partnerships.

Led the critically important internal Genentech Research & Early Development (gRED) relationship, including understanding business needs and translating those needs into strategic sourcing and procurement activities, including the development and maintenance of strategic supplier (CRO and central laboratory) relationships.

Relocated from the UK to US to lead an organization of 55 sourcing professionals based in US, Canada, UK, Switzerland and China, in 5 business partner aligned teams, accountable for the execution of all late stage clinical trial sourcing and contracting activities.

Led a team of 16 Sourcing Managers accountable for the execution of all late stage clinical trial sourcing and contracting activities for clinical study teams based in the UK.Led a global initiative to optimize functional outsourcing, contingent workforce and offshoring models across the R&D organization resulting in significant business benefits.

Responsible for the entire life cycle of supplier selection and contract management for multiple clinical trials, including RFP, negotiation, selection, contracting, oversight and closeout. Implementation of FSP and MSP models in support of the Biometrics function.

Led sourcing, supplier relationship management and governance activities on multiple functional service provider (FSP) relationships including North American clinical trial monitoring and global clinical data management.

Execution of all clinical data management activities for insourced and outsourced clinical trials across multiple therapeutics areas including oncology, anti-infectives, cardiovascular, and pain.
