About Christopher Whittle, Atlantic Images, and Fat Squirrel Studios:Christopher Whittle is from Worsley in Manchester, England and became first known for his drawing skills in his primary school because he could draw Garfield. Since then Chris studied Art & Design at A-Level at the esteemed Sir John Deane’s College leaving with an A, before going on to Newcastle Under-Lyme College to complete a foundation course, winning an award for his photography. It was here where Chris was at a crossroads. He had offers to study fine art, film-making, or photography at University, deciding that a Photography in Europe BA (Hons) in Nottingham was the choice for him at the time.Having graduated in 2001 Chris went straight to work at Manchester’s premier news and photography agency, Cavendish Press. This proved to be a fantastic apprenticeship working on some major news stories including the Harold Shipman murders. After nearly three years in Manchester, Chris was head hunted by Splash News and Pictures in Los Angeles, where he worked as a staff photographer for five years. In 2009 Chris pursued a freelance career keeping his base in Los Angeles while still working closely with Splash News. In 2011 Splash News and Pictures was acquired by Corbis Images, a media agency owned by Bill Gates.After eleven years working and traveling across the world as a professional photographer based out of L.A. Chris saw it was time for a change and set up his own media company back in the United Kingdom. Originally called The Fat Squirrel Media Company it was changed to Atlantic Images Ltd and in 2015 his company was born.Atlantic Images is now a digital media company putting all types of great content, new and old, back to work. Having created multiple editorial websites and social media channels, Atlantic Images can now publish and monetise a huge variety of imagery focusing on carefully edited pictures & video with well thought-out stories. Atlantic Images also give all their images away for free editorial, personal and educational use. The decision to go down this free online route has been twenty-five years in the making.Atlantic Images now acts as the umbrella company for several onine brands. One of these is Fat Squirrel Studios where all of Christopher Whittle's illustrations, artwork, and designs can be found. After going live in 2020 Fat Squirrel is where Chris spends most of his professional time while still acting as the Creative Director for Atlantic Images.
