Leaving the automotive repair industry in the mid 1990's, I started a career in the aircraft industry following aircraft maintenance school. I worked one year for a military contractor conducting depot maintenance on T-34C Navy trainers. For the next decade, I worked as a business/executive aircraft mechanic and inspector in a busy Gulfstream repair station and completion center. During those 11 years I specialized in structural repairs and modifications, as well as required maintenance and system checks. I was chosen to conduct hull pressure checks and to train and certify those who would conduct those checks. As an airworthiness inspector I was responsible for oversight on all modifications and repairs on the assigned aircraft. Following this I contracted as an inspector of structures with the wing manufacturer for the Gulfstream G650 Program and then contracted for several years with a large MRO provider working on airliners. I assisted with all aspects heavy C-checks on Boeing and Airbus commercial aircraft, working door overhauls, flight control services, rigging and scheduled overhauls, as well as landing gear services and changes. After returning to the automotive repair field in 2017 and working in several repair facilities in the beautiful highlands of Southwest Virginia, I have again returned to turning wrenches at an faa repair station in North Carolina.
