Christopher Lam is Vice President and Head of NEC Laboratories Singapore (NLS), responsible for the strategic direction, vision, growth and performance of the Singapore-based solutions lab’s cutting-edge research and development.As a seasoned ICT professional with more than 25 years of industry experience, Christopher is responsible for maximizing operational excellence and as one of its chief architects, transforming it into one of the most advanced Applied Research Labs NEC operates globally.Since joining NLS in May 2015 as Research Director, Christopher pivoted NLS to specialize in creating Hi-Fi Vision Prototypes and Integrated AI solutions that centers on providing Actionable Insights to clients and partners. As a key ideator in many of these new cutting-edge solutions, Christopher implements and drives cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary teams which culminated in the introduction of an integrated platform that supports the control of a epidemic/pandemic situation, which has now been applied and made available globally as a product.A key passion of Christopher’s is to build the next-generation Smart Command Centre, which combines advanced Visualization as well as a myriad of AI-driven capabilities and Data Analysis techniques into a single platform for the enhancement of Safety, Security and Productivity of client’s operations.Christopher holds a Degree in Computing from Monash University, Australia and prior to NEC, Christopher had assumed several other technical leadership roles in various organizations, including portfolios such as Head of E-Commerce in Avnet Asia, Technical Director in the Technology Office of ST Electronics (Info-Software Systems), Senior Delivery Architect in Sun Microsystems, as well as founder of an ICT start-up. In his younger days, Christopher also served as a military officer in the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) unit with the Singapore Armed Forces.
