Pioneering a new era in Afghanistan's mining sector, I co-founded and was CEO of Silk Road Mining — a junior mining company dedicated to exploring and developing the country's mineral resources. As the first organization to secure a large-scale exploration and exploitation contract in Afghanistan in a decade, Silk Road is set to become a pillar of the nation's emerging mining industry.The contract encompasses the exploration and anticipated exploitation of the extensive Shaida copper deposit located in Herat Province. We attained this opportunity through a competitive tender process initiated by the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, and overseen by numerous international donor organizations.Beyond our exploration activities, I'm proud to note that Silk Road is deeply committed to supporting the community. We've allocated a substantial portion of our equity to fund social development programs, reinforcing our dedication to sustainable and inclusive growth.
