Lycoming Engines is an aviation engine company focusing on horizontally opposed, air cooled, piston engines, as well as having FAA certified aerobatic and helicopter piston engines. My role as a Business Development Liaison Engineer for Lycoming involved supporting Business Development Managers and Regional Sales Mangers in identifying, capturing, and retaining new OEM, Aftermarket, and Engineering Services Customers. Outside of my day to day responsibilities of assisting over 40 OEM customers around the world, I worked closely with the Thunderbolt product line. With the implementation of several accessory and paint options, an updated ordering tool, and online 3D engine builder, our team was able to increase engine sales by 19% at the Sun 'N Fun airshow. Later in my rotation, I created a virtual, online database of over 400 Lycoming powered fleets across the United States. This database allows for easy visual management of fleets for the traveling Regional Sales Mangers as well as the Business Development team in Williamsport.

Quality Engineer
Bell Helicopter is a manufacturer of civil and military helicopters and tiltrotor craft. My role in quality engineering for the Rotors and Composites Center was heavily involved with data analytics. Originally, many of the quality data systems were not linked to a common source to filter data. I worked in collaboration with quality personnel across Bell to create a mapping of over 1300 work areas to properly filter quality data. This project increased the accuracy of metric reporting by 10%. These metrics are heavily utilized in project planning and decision making throughout Bell. They are the basis for the Corrective Action Board (CAB), which our group redesigned from center to enterprise level meetings. I facilitated these weekly CAB meetings with quality, manufacturing, and engineering personnel to conduct and report on root cause and corrective actions of defects within the manufacturing facilities. Our group was also involved in data analytics for cost reduction efforts throughout the manufacturing facilities. In addition, I took a stretch assignment working in the Advanced Quality Systems Applications Lab. Through this lab, our team completed implementation of an ATOS 3D Scanner for twist and contour inspection that reduces inspection time by 70% compared to a typical CMM setup. I gained working knowledge of the Romer portable measuring device and scanner, Virtex projection laser scanner, and Cognitens White Light scanning system.
