I conduct and manage investigations in support of organisational objectives; contribute to the acquisition, development and dissemination of tactical and strategic intelligence on NCA tasked operations linked to serious and organised crime affecting the UK. I ensure investigations, prevention, and analytical initiatives are carried out thoroughly, professionally and expeditiously in accordance with the Agency’s policy and legislative requirements whilst developing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to foster collaborative working.

As an Operations Officer I am part of a dynamically deployable unit undertaking surveillance based upon an intelligence-led approach concentrating on tackling the criminals of Organised Crime Groups operating at the high end of serious crime presenting risks to the public which are beyond the capability or capacity of other law enforcement bodies.

Investigating, disrupting and bringing to justice those involved in the Organised Crime Groups involved in Organised Immigration Crime including Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation, Human Trafficking, Modern Day Slavery along with smuggling into the UK of illegal drugs and firearms.

Sexual Offences, Exploitation And Child Abuse Command

I was an investigating officer within this major project. This sensitive and challenging role involved the investigation of the most serious crimes alongside the strategic management of resources and budgets. My role was to structure and develop the most effective strategies working in partnership with key services. To support this work I established and maintained resilient interpersonal relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders across child protection services including coroners, prison and social services. I was particularly involved in the interviewing of the very youngest victims of crime, ensuring the most appropriate response to risk is reflected. I brought a resilient and thoughtful approach to this challenging role, together with an ability to formulate concise, yet necessarily complex, reports to enable the most informed, and often demanding, decisions to be made.

Homicide And Serious Crime Command

Working across London, I was part of a team tasked with the investigation of the most serious crimes. I held with numerous challenging roles, including as a specialist exhibits officer, holding responsibility for scene examination and evidence retrieval and in a pivotal role within major incidents, as the intelligence and evidence receiver responsible for the management of information; ensuring all evidential opportunities were realised. I held responsibility for implementing change in procedure, having liaised at a strategic level, formulating and developing investigative strategies. Within this role, I managed the most thorough risk assessments throughout the operational activity and effectively oversaw a demanding workload with multiple concurrent cases. I worked closely with the Crown prosecution service (CPS) preparing and presenting evidence within Crown Court and Central Criminal Court settings.

Online Investigation And Paedophile Unit

I was selected for this complex and challenging role having demonstrated an ability to investigate some of the most demanding and evolving crimes. Utilising strong IT skills, I gained wide experience within Internet investigations and forensic analysis of computers. This included expertise in peer to peer file sharing and covert internet investigations, leading as Investigating Officer in numerous operations. This role required effective multi-agency working, including UK and International partners to maximise risk management and effective exchange of intelligence.

Targeting Policing Team

I was tasked to implement a unit to combat drug supply within the local community I held responsibility for the planning of covert operations and appropriately disseminating intelligence to secure convictions. This included the leadership and management of a covert operation that secured the arrest, conviction and imprisonment of 32 offenders. During this time I was seconded to a Criminal Review unit, utilising my analytical skills to contribute to a full thematic review of historical evidence.

Criminal Investigation Department

Alongside my duties as an operational detective, having identified a knowledge gap, I worked as the primary trainer for new detectives within Devon and Cornwall, presenting lectures on best practice and procedures. During this time, I was also seconded to high level murder investigations as an investigator, exhibits officer and as a family liaison officer.

Like all police officers, I began my service as a constable and worked my way steadily through a wide range of training and development. This allowed me to successfully transfer subsequently to detective duties after demonstrating an intelligent and competent eye for detail, enquiry and observation and clear success at professional personal interaction
