Teaching future journalists the craft of multimedia reporting and storytelling.As executive director of the Department of Journalism's capstone, I am also responsible for implementing the department’s vision of Philadelphia Neighborhoods, an award-winning publication that reports and tells stories in the undercovered and underserved neighborhoods around the city.

• Developed the strategic plan for growth of the Philadelphia Neighborhoods program and worked with the department chair to implement the strategic plan.• Represented the PN program outside of scheduled formal class sessions, offering continuity and expertise to the capstone class for the Journalism major, which is the signature program of the department.• In consultation with the department chair, completed and oversaw hiring of grant-funded employees.• Represented the program’s interests to institutions around the Philadelphia area.• Served as the essential developer and implementer of policy and practices.• Managed existing and initiated new or revised internal administrative processes supporting the academic instruction.• Supported faculty members and instructs students in a newsroom environment and managed the students' journalistic activities.• Oversaw all content uploaded to PhiladelphiaNeighborhoods.com website from students across the journalism program.• Worked with full-time and part-time faculty, instructing students and managing full time staff members and students in developing journalistic content for PhiladelphiaNeighborhoods.com.

• Working with full-time and adjunct faculty members to establish a department-wide style guide for written stories, photographs, video shooting and editing, data visualization, audio packages and all content students create in a multimedia fashion.• Assisting full-time and adjunct faculty in developing projects the department can use to enter journalism competitions.• Working with students not in production classes to develop personal projects into content suitable for posting.• Overseeing the PhiladelphiaNeighborhoods.com newsroom, working with students to obtain and return gear, as well as assisting them with projects.• Working with journalism partner organizations to get student work posted on other websites.• Working with residential community organizations to ensure proper coverage of the city.• Assisting with the PhiladelphiaNeighborhoods.com class and the Philadelphia Neighborhoods on TV class.• Handling social media engagement.• Identifying assets and resources within the school and university (classes, professors, centers, etc.) and connecting students in need of additional assistance to these.

I was involved in the magazine’s inception and creation. This included developing a solid business plan and strategy and participating in the day to day activities of a start-up publication.Coordination of entire editorial content of the magazine. From locating freelance writers to locating and arranging interviews with all the artists.Also involved in the maintaining and updating of our website's blog.Achieved national distribution through Curtis Circulation, handling a majority of our 50,000 print-run.Our sell through rate exceeded the industry standard.
