I currently serve as a Senior Project Manager at Meyer Tool & Manufacturing, where we specialize in the design and fabrication of customized cryogenic systems, vacuum chambers, pressure vessels and complex weldments and machined parts. As a senior project manager, I serve as the technical lead on some of our more complex and longer-term projects from initial introduction to potential customers, into the design and quote stage, through completion of fabrication and delivery of the project to our customer. I am a leader of engineering improvement initiatives, actively pursuing improvement ideas to implement positive company change. I mentor newer and/or less experienced engineers as they on-board and pursue personal growth and career development. Some of my primary duties at Meyer Tool are as follows:• Quoting of new and repeat projects• Overall project management (serving as the primary technical contact with the customers of all projects I manage)• Generating production routings and shop instructions• Generating Bills of material• Mechanical design (solid modeling, creation of fabrication drawings, GD&T)• Engineering calculations (ASME Pressure vessels, thermal calculations, load calculations, ect.)• Design for manufacturability• Project scheduling and coordination with vendors and suppliers• Conceptualize and implement efficiency improvements throughout the organization• Technical writing (Proposals, status reports, final documentation packages)

My primary role at Episensors was to serve as the technical lead and team leader on a variety of infrared imaging related research and development projects. The majority of these projects focused on developing products and product prototypes based on cutting edge research and development efforts. Current efforts include the development of short-wave infrared cameras, as well as quantum dot based mid-wave infrared and long-wave infrared detector arrays. I was responsible for a variety of duties, including:• Technical proposal / Grant writing (obtained over $2.5 million in Federal funding)• Project management (serve as the principal investigator or program manager on four active contracts)• Experimental research (directly perform or supervise the performance of all technical efforts performed under contract)• Technical writing (author all contract-related technical reports)• Technical presentation (Present technical findings to funding agencies and at conferences)• System integration (specify or design all subcomponents in prototype camera systems and related work)• Mechanical design (design all mechanical components for contract work and prototype systems)• Prototype fabrication (personally fabricated a wide array of custom components utilizing our in-house machine shop)• Theoretical calculations and modeling (mechanical, thermal and optical modeling and calculations in order to better design and optimize prototype systems and experiments)My broad range of responsibilities within the company has allowed me to play a key role in every aspect of the projects in which I was a part, from generating the initial ideas and technical approach outlined in our submitted proposals, to executing and reporting on our technical efforts.

While working as a scientist at Episensors I authored a variety of research proposals (SBIR, STTR, BAA) seeking federal funding to research a variety of topics including biological detection and assay development utilizing quantum dot fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) technology. I presented our groups’ experimental findings at a variety of technical conferences, and helped to conduct extensive market research in the biodetection field.

During my stay at ARL I worked in both the nanoelectronics and the bio-inspired devices and sensors groups. My nanoelectronics efforts included the design, fabrication and testing of carbon nanotube/grapheme supercapacitors, carbon nanotube field effect transistor chemical sensors, and single carbon nanotube transistors for terahertz applications. I worked with the bio-inspired devices and sensors group to fabricate and image self-assembled DNA structures for nano-templating as well as performed physical and electrical characterization of DNA thin films for use as flexible dielectric layers. Through these efforts I became proficient in a wide array of micro/nano fabrication techniques, as well as advanced physical and electrical characterization techniques.
