After becoming a British Citizen, I established my own company. My client base was a group of businesses in London and a set of wineries in Cape Town. These projects where diverse and led to consultancy to other businesses in London and France. The focus was still on Microsoft platforms but now extended to VMWare virtualization and high availability using SAN and iSCSI technology. I had a support channel under contracts to these businesses covering all aspects of IT being Network backend, Infrastructure/backbone, VPN/RAS Services/Terminal Access and user support. SLA’s and standby equipment was offered for redundancy, full autonomy as IT manager to these businesses extending to consultant/implementation manager to all third-party vendors in their participation and services to the business. This included accounting software, bespoke order management software, streaming video platforms, managed VDSL and fibre services.

Wem & Co. is an accounting and IT firm based in East Acton, London. I was appointed as a Network Engineer and progressed to Director. The business secured my working permit and residency in Britain. My role was primarily as systems engineer covering Microsoft Server and Exchange platforms, this extended to certification from AVAYA (PBX/VoIP) and McAfee (Network AV). Over the years, I attained extensive knowledge and experience supporting a client base in London extending throughout England and Wales.

PriceWaterhouse Coopers, London May 1999 – March 2000This was my stepping stone in my carrier to working in the United Kingdom. I was given the role as a contracting telecom engineer and worked in three landmark building in central London. PWC at which point where refurbishing these buildings, the work scope required running teams of engineers, planning and mapping telecoms equipment for relocation over weekends. Then assuming our standard weekly hours of work in a support role to staff, supporting analogue and ISDN equipment with PABX programming.

R&B Systems January 1991 – April 1999My career started as a network engineer in the early 90’s. At which point Novell Netware and ARCNet where the platforms and backbone (RG-45 Co-Ax/10-Base2) of choice. XT’s 8088 processors where the powerhouses of the day and required a math co-pro if you were reallyserious about number crunching or wanted Excel to work at a decent pace. My role and experience expanded over the years starting from using select components to build both IBM/Intel based workstations and servers running MFM or RLL & SCSI hard drives. Remember back thendebug was used to low level format and map bad sectors on hard drives. Over this period my exposure extended to a MCSE NT4 (Microsoft) and implementation of Unix networks. In this role, I was responsible for all aspects of systems implementation (hardware and software/workstation and server), client correspondence and relationship management.

South African Defense Force,Within my year of national service, I attained an electronics diploma in Gun Control Equipment for the Olifant tank, using electronic and electro mechanical components including gyro compass. This extended diagnostics and board level repair.
