Originally from Liverpool, I decided to study university-level chemistry in the distant town of St Andrews, Scotland, studying for a BSc. However, it was always my desire to graduate with a Masters of Chemistry from this university, the achievement of meeting the highly-graded conditional offer not being great enough for me. I came one step closer to this desire when the School of Chemistry (based on my excellent results in my first two years) offered me the chance to join the honours course as an MChem student, starting in my third year, an offer I could not refuse! Despite the increase in workload and the standards expected, my hard work and determination enabled me to achieve a good set of results in my examinations and to achieve a 2:1 in my MChem degree, which has allowed me to first pursue a PhD at the University of East Anglia under Prof. Mark Searcey, and then to secure employment as a Senior Scientist at Charles River Laboratories, before moving on to a new adventure in the form of Chemify in January 2024Outside of work, I thoroughly enjoy rock climbing, specifically bouldering, as well as Taekwon-Do, and am also an avid video gamer. I was also a cadet between the ages of 14 and 18, rising up the ranks to sergeant, providing me with leadership and teamwork skills which I am now able to utilise not only in my workplace, but also as an adult instructor within the Army Cadet Force.
