As part of my Ready Reserve commitment I spent two months every year in the army conducting drills and field exercises. I was also required to pass yearly tests such as physical, shooting, navigation, leadership, survival, mental etc. I passed all four years.

After graduating High School I was accepted into the Ready Reserve scheme where I joined the army as a regular soldier for one year and then a four year part time commitment. For my full time year I spent the first three months in NSW for basic training, then four months in Vic for tank driver training and then six months at the 2/14 Lighthorse Brigade in Brisbane, Qld.
