When I took over the role as Head of ICT within the company my responsibilities increased and help me develop my businessBusiness SkillsAs part of my role I researched developing technologies to ensure that ICT remains a cost effective tool to the company. I met with partners, vendors and suppliers to discuss at a high level the improvements that can be made to the company’s function and performance. It was then my duty to take this technical information and communicate to all the senior management both technical and non technical. This information could be in the form of a new policy procedure or the implementation of a new technology. It was important that this new policy/procedure/technology was evaluated for both opportunity and risk. Incorrect assessment of these activities could have lead to non compliance, low productivity or financial loss.AutonomyIt was my responsibly to lead ICT within the organisation. I set the goals and targets that needed to be achieved within the ICT department. Any project taken on by the ICT Department was programmed with key milestones and financial targets. The project was then carried out by myself or was delegated to others both peers and subordinates. During each stage I reportes on both the progress and the financial expenditure.InfluenceMy specialist area of expertise is in cloud computing and infrastructure development. My role allowed me to apply my knowledge to lead the company, the company’s clients and subcontractors to perform better as a partnership.ComplexityICT has a large influence on all the processes and procedures throughout the business. My responsibilities as head of ICT required that I understand all the complexities of the workflows that the rest of the workforce use on a daily basis. I must take this knowledge and improve the workflows while reducing bottlenecks. This will allow the company to achieve the accreditations required to tender new projects and produce a quality product to the client.
