I thought moving to the suburbs was just something you just did:𝗝𝗼𝗯 + 𝗞𝗶𝗱𝘀 = 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗯𝘀...and once you crossed this line, travel with a young family was reserved for August holidays to the shore.I had the American dream served on a platter, with all the trimmings:• Dog• 3 kids• House• Careers• Backyard(The only thing missing was the white picket fence!)But after a few months of living in the suburbs, my wife and I realized:𝗪𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻'𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆.Our suburban life had become our golden handcuffs.We hated spending weekends fixing gutters, pruning crabgrass, and driving everywhere.Sitting at a chain restaurant on a Wednesday night, we looked at each other and knew: we needed a change.We started asking questions like:• 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘸𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦?• 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘶𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘸𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘻𝘦?• 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘸𝘦 𝘰𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘻𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳?• 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘸𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦?We didn't have answers, but one thing we realized:If there's something about your life that doesn't make you happy...𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝘁.So we decided to sell our house. To get rid of the painstakingly picked out furniture. And to ship our family of four (plus our dog) 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 🐶 to Dublin, Ireland.It seemed crazy... at first.But the more we researched, the more we realized: people had been doing this for years!
