Christopher is an influential urban designer and strategic urban planner working to maximise the value of urban public space. He supports communities, governments, cities, and leaders to develop ambitious urban strategy to meet their missions, and make great places possible.He is Managing Director of Urban Movement, and Head of Urban Design with over 19 years’ experience leading complex urban projects at all scales that address human connection, social equity, and climate repair. He applies his expertise to public realm, streets and mobility - where he consistently adds value through ensuring the integration of urban and landscape design, with engineering and transport. Through projects he explores the creative tension that exists at the interface of design, delivery and ambassadorship – ensuring a focus on ambition and outcomes, fostering collaboration and inspiration, and securing smooth delivery, pushing where necessary.In addition to his project work, Christopher is Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees for the UK charity for everyday walking - Living Streets - and chairs their ‘Technical Walking Design Expert Group’. He is past Vice Chair of the UK Urban Design Group and still serves on the Editorial Board of their journal, Urban Design. He is Keynote Speaker known for his ability to convincingly communicate the benefits of people-focused urban design and transport; is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts; regular Lecturer at Bartlett School of Planning, UCL; and contributed to the best practice document, ‘Designing Streets for Kids’ published by NACTO. The combination of Christopher’s project, advisory, and research work make him a leading voice in urban design and transport globally.
